Hi my name is Ockert and hopefully this blog will become; an open field for thoughts to gallop… where I can write down the things I’m thinking about, hopefully committing my ideas to “paper” will allow them to mature as I prepare and shape them for an audience, who perhaps will find some value in them and if I’m fortunate take the time to interact.

I currently live with my partner in a smallish town called Woking in the United Kingdom, we are both originally from Southern Africa. I’m a Java programmer in The City (London) by day. I also have an interest in photography and maintain an on line presence at www.flickr.com/photos/ockert/

Boertjie Abroad: Boer is the Afrikaans word for Farmer and “…tjie” is a suffix meaning small or simply a term of endearment. Of course I’m not a farmer so what gives? Simply it proclaims my Afrikaans heritage with fondness and Abroad is where I am, together hopefully they make a friendly name.
